ACHIEVEMENTS

         Conferred with Presidential Award by the President of India in 2003 for Distinguished record of Service and Outstanding Contribution in Anti-Smuggling and Anti-Evasion field of the Department.

         Awarded Certificate of Appreciation from President CESTAT New Delhi in 2000 for Extraordinary performance in presenting the case before him and from Chairman, CBEC in, 2004 for  Extraordinary performance in detecting Anti-smuggling cases.

WORK EXPERIENCE

In brief, served the department for almost 38 years in various capacities and  handled  technical, legal, adjudication  and Vigilance matters   at  Member/ Chief Commissioner level.

         Handled cases of High revenue stakes at  President CESTAT level.

         Handled various cases of the Commissionerate for briefing the Senior Government counsels and drafting of counter affidavits for filing in High Court and other Court as well as CAT on behalf of the Department.

         Assistant Commissioner, Customs ICD (TKD)  (Jan, 2012 – Dec.2012),

         As Assistant Commissioner handled technical matters and Vigilance matters of the Commissioneraste and got appreciation from the Commissioner/Chief Commissioner.

         Superintendent, Customs & Central Excise (Aug. 1992 to December, 2011)

         Worked as Supdt. (Legal), Supdt. (Adjudication)  in Central Excise, Patnaa Commissionerate and handled legal and Technical issues of the Commissionerate from 1992 to 1994.

         Worked as Superintendent (Preventive) Central Excise, Patna  and on  own initiative and information information cases of Anti-evasion worth Rs. 47 Crores were booked. Apart from it,  one of the biggest seizure of Silver of foreign origin worth Rs. 14 Crores (Highest for Eastern Sector as one case) was effected and offenders were put under COFEPOSA  during the period of 1994-1998.

         Worked as SIO, DRI (Hqrs) New Delhi and was associated  with various cases of anti-smuggling. Got appreciation Certificate from DG, DRI and Chairman, CBEC during 2000-2004.

         Worked as Vigilance Officer in Directorate general of Vigilance  and associated with various cases  of sensitive nature as well as normal  vigilance matter  from 2004 to 2011.

         Inspector, Customs and Central Excise (November, 1974 –July,1992 )

         Worked as Inspector (Preventive), Inspector (COFEPOSA), Inspector (Legal)  and was associated with  various sensitive issues. Got appreciation certificate from Commissioner, Patna on two occasions.

SKILLS

         Carry good experience in drafting reply on technical, legal  matter relating to Customs, and Central Excise.

         Carry sound knowledge on issues relating to Vigilance matters, Reply to Charge Sheets, issues on Cross examination, Defense brief  etc.
